Formerly Special Kids Care Agency
Our Team 2017-11-15T12:39:32+00:00

Our general office is based in the centre of Rickmansworth but we serve much of Herts and areas of South Bucks. There are five of us based in the office…

The Agency is owned and managed by Liesl and Hazel

Liesl – General Manager

Liesl has a psychology degree and has worked in both paid and voluntary capacities in social care for the disabled. Her eldest daughter has cerebral palsy & hydrocephalus and Liesl encountered first-hand the problems in finding the right kind of care for her daughter. In SKCA’s formative stage Liesl worked closely with Herts County Council to provide a service that met the needs of the back-log of children and young adults who had been given funding but who had not been able to find care. Liesl personally visits all our new families and is involved in the preparation of the care plans and in matching or recruiting new care staff to meet packages of care.

Hazel – Finance & Administration Systems

Hazel is a qualified accountant and spent the first 15 years of her career working in that capacity. Whilst her children were young Hazel completed a psychology degree following which she taught ‘A level’ in the subject at a local secondary school. Joining forces with Liesl back in 2004 gave Hazel the opportunity to use all her skills and experience and she enjoys having that breadth in her work. In addition to her specific responsibilities Hazel deputises for other members of staff when the need arises. A key responsibility is managing quality assurance to ensure that we deliver a high quality service

Flick – Development and Training Manager

Flick joined SKCA in 2008 bringing with her the specialist skills and experience we needed. She had previously worked in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist for many years, leaving only when the demands of looking after her four young children became too great. She then very successfully took on administrative roles in the local community both paid and voluntary. Within SKCA Flick has responsibility for the Development and Training of care staff. Much of the training is in-house and delivered personally by her. Where specialist training is required Flick will source this externally. Flick works closely with our children and young adults who have complex physical or health needs and in consequence has developed close relationships with the health professionals supporting these young people.

Bev – Office Administrator and Care Support Lead

Bev is a bright, adaptable, caring individual who brings a wonderful ‘can-do’ attitude to all her work. Bev began working for us as a carer in and it didn’t take long for us to recognise that she was exceptional. In 2012 she also began supporting Hazel in finance and it soon became obvious to us all that Bev had skills in all areas of our operations. Bev is now permanently based in the office and is responsible for scheduling care staff as well as supporting new care staff ‘on the job’. Bev is passionate about supporting our young people and plays a key role in settling new families into SKCA. She is particularly successful in working with young people who have difficulty managing their emotions and behaviours and supports training for carers in this area.

Michaela – Office Support

Michaela has been working for us one afternoon a week for several years now and her smile never fails to brighten up the office. Michaela is in charge of shredding.

“Our aim is to help make life better both for the young person and for you, their families. Please call us and find out how we can help you.”
